***CLOSED!!!***
To be fair, this wouldn't be the first rug I have gone through.
In all honesty, in the nearly 3 years I have lived here-- I have been through a number of rugs. The first lasted about a year, and could probably still be shampooed and cleaned. It was a beige shag rug that got incredibly dirty looking. But it wasn't even as big as the rug Mohawk Home let me pick out.
It ended up in our garage, because it held so much dirt and sand. The area we live in has very sandy soil. Of course- there are beaches nearby and we go all the time. The sand ended up inside of the shag rug, and was generally all around a huge mess. My garage has my washer & dryer in it, and the floor gets cold and dirty.. so I took it out there so I wouldn't have to worry about it being dirty anymore.
Then, I didn't have a rug for a while. Then, I got another shag rug.. know where this one is? On the back-porch. It showed too many crumbs, and was thin, and cheap, and started to curl at the corners. Out it went.
As you can see, my whole downstairs is tiled, and we aren't exactly rich.
So I figured I'd just get another.. and I never did. I did eventually get tired of not having rugs, so I did the next best thing. I went to Lowes and had some cheap runners cut. I can't afford a 300$-500$ area rug right now, probably ever....
So I realized these runners which are like 10$ a yard, if they got ruined and dirty, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I don't know about little boys, but little girls are messy! Mine are 7 and 2.
I have a love/hate relationship with the tiled floor. While I despise how you can stain carpets, I don't like to sweep either. Vacuuming is much easier than sweeping, and you can feel everything on the floor here, even the tiniest grain of sand underfoot. Since I hate shoes this is a serious problem. (I bought a robot to help me out, a Neato)
I didn't know Mohawk Home back when I bought the 4 runners, but I wish I would've. The rug I picked out is more than big enough.
Here's what it looks like on the website
It's measurements are:
5 x 8, which sounds small, but it is huge!!!
Here, look at the baby laying on it, and tell me you don't agree!
And do you know how much this rug costs? $149.99, which means, if you win this giveaway, you can pick it!!!
Look at this picture I took for a Klout Perk, (Essie Nail Polish) you can see the rug close-up and see how the texture is higher and lower and is a very bright vibrant color.
I love it. It's named
" With all the beauty of a stained glass window, this artful rug is certain to be the focal point of any room. Warm gold and brown are juxtaposed with cool gray and blue on this boldly patterned rug. Manufacturer recommends using a non-skid pad beneath this rug (sold separately). 100% nylon. Made in the USA. "
I love that the new rug matches the colors on my pillows, floor, wall, and curtains, and brings them all together. It looks like it fits in here perfectly. Noah will not be surprised to find a new rug on the floor, when he comes home from deployment (soon, I hope) but I probably will have a hard time convincing him that I didn't buy it and it wasn't expensive. When we shopped rugs together before he left, we couldn't find any of this quality and size for less than 300 dollars!!
It is soft too. This might sound silly, but the bottom of the rug isn't cheap. It is sturdy and can withstand "bowing" or "curling" as some other cheaper rugs tend to. This is a problem with that robot "Neato" I mentioned earlier who keeps this house's floors clean for me. It can get stuck on the corners if the rug doesn't lay flat.
Now that we have it, Devonny (age 2) loves to "back-flip" on the new rug. It's really more of a roll or a tumble, but she thinks it's a back flip- so I let her say it.
Kids can be so cute like that!
I'm so glad we have this rug, because before... she wouldn't have been able to do tumbles, since she probably would've hurt herself in trying to do so.
I have gotten numerous compliments on this rug, and I am really glad I picked it out.
The best part is they want to offer you a giveaway!!!

I love it. It's named
Mohawk Home Select Linen Capistrano 5' x 8' Rectangle Rug
and appears to be "Stained Glass". It comes from Bed, Bath & Beyond, but there are many other retailers . Since each retailer has different Mohawk Home rugs, there really is an endless selection and variety to chose from!"
